TRADITION OF THE HOLY PROPHET AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Abstract
There are hundreds of sayings and practical examples regarding human rights in the Sirah (tradition) of the Holy Prophet. It reveals how the Prophet was concerned about human rights; whether during war or peace. In this article, the guiding principles of safeguarding human rights have been highlighted in the light of his practical conduct and sayings especially that of his sermon delivered in his last pilgrimage (khutba hijja al-wida’). The sermon of hijja al-wida’ is so significant that even some non-Muslims seem to be acknowledging and appreciating it. To shed the light on the significance of the sermon, we have first mention those books which contain it. In the second step, the books of Sirah have been utilized. In the third place, historical books have been taken into account. Finally, a conclusion has been presented to recapitulate important points.
