Preserving Religious Sanctities: Analytical Study of the laws of Selected Western and Muslim Countries

Abstract
At present, in the Western world, laws regarding the sanctity of religious holiness are seen as an obstacle to freedom of expression, which is why many international organizations are seeking to remove these laws from the earth. However, freedom of expression does not necessarily mean that a state should leave its citizens like a shattered flock of sheep to express whatever comes to their mind even though it may cause bad blood among other citizens. In addition to Islamic countries, many Western and European countries have laws against blasphemy. Until now, many countries around the world have laws that punish the offender with blasphemy or other religious crimes such as apostasy are present. However, every country has its own set of rules by which a criminal is punished after proper trials. This article gives a brief overview on blasphemy laws, first in Western countries and then in Islamic countries.
