Abstract
Syed Suleman Nadvi was a renowned literary personality
of the Subcontinent. He was a biographer, researcher,
historian, letter writer, linguist, Muhaddith, critic and
travelogue writer. Besides editing journals like Al-Hilal,
Al-Nadva and Muraif, he penned a number of books on
various topics. He travelled to Afghanistan along Allama
Iqbal and Sir Raas Masod on the invitation of King of
Afghanistan Nadir Shah. The basic purpose of the visit
was consultation for establishing educational system in
Afghanistan especially the University of Kabul.
Resultantly, Sir Raas Masod wrote some essays on
education while Allama Iqbal composed his famous
mathnavi Musafir and Syed Suleman Nadvi came up with
a travelogue under the title of Sair-e-Afghanistan. This
article is a special study of Nadvi's Sair-e-Afghanistan.
