Abstract
The paper deals with the motives of the students of foreign
languages in Pakistan to enroll in a foreign language course. The object
of this investigation is the group of foreign language students enrolled at
the Institute of Languages at University of the Punjab during the
academic year 2013-2014. A questionnaire was provided to the students
where they had to answer the main questions of this research. The data
collection was followed up with personal interviews which enabled the
students to further explain their reasoning for their choice of foreign
language. The study concludes with the factors and reasons behind the
students’ motivation towards learning a foreign language.
