Abstract
Professor Jagan Nath Azad was a renowned Urdu literature
personality from India. He was known as a poet, writer and "Iqbal
Shanas".He was a multidimensional personality and was internationally
recognized authority on Iqbal. He had memorized all poetic work of Iqbal
and was known as a "Hafiz-e kalam-e Iqbal". He devoted all his life to
promote Iqbaliat in the world. After partition he faced many difficulties in this
work because Iqbal was believed as a Muslim poet and thinker of Pakistan
and Hindu extremist threatened him and forced him to stop this work. Azad
was a true lover of Iqbal and continued his work till his death. He cultivated
the relation and good will between India and Pakistan. In Iqbaliat Azad
wrote many books, critical essays, and delivered many lectures in
educational institutes and international conferences. He was awarded many
awards and prizes not only in subcontinent but all across the globe. Now he
is not in this world but his work will always remain a source of guidance for
the students and researchers of Iqbaliat and Urdu literature.
