Non-government organizations have been mushrooming in Pakistan with fastest pace since its inception. Its rapid growth in almost every district of Pakistan has made their roles indispensable for human welfare and particularly for women wellbeing. NGOs are in forefront for identifying, discussing and resolving the issues related to women (Awan, 2012) including empowerment, health and education, violence against women, honour crimes, inheritance and family laws (Khoso et al., 2011). Their focus is to bring the women in the mainstream of wellness therefore they are providing physical support in the form of credit or assets and also imparting relevant training to women. On the other hand they are advocating their rights on all forums to make the society’s environment congenial for women. While performing these tasks they have been facing multifaceted socio cultural barriers and to overcome these hurdles they have been devising strategies and thus paving their way forward to work harmoniously. This paper briefly reviews the history of women NGOs in Pakistan. By taking descriptive approach this paper tend to understand the struggle NGOs have been doing to be acceptable in tribal patriarchal society of Baluchistan. In this context, it will further explore the complexities of challenges and counter strategies NGOs have adopted for women empowerment in Baluchistan.
