Surrealism is an artistic movement of 20th century. It’s based on unconscious sources, which was depicted from Sigmund Freud’s theory. Surrealist art shows illogical and unreasonable things in creation, the principles, ideals or practice of producing fantastic or incongruous imagery or effects in art, literature, film, or theater by means of unnatural or irrational juxta positions and combinations. From the 1920s onwards, the movement spread around the globe, eventually affecting the visual arts, literature, film, and music of many countries and languages, as well as political thought and practice, philosophy and social theory. In 1980 when existentialism influenced on Sindhi literature many writers recompense the different type of philosophical movements in short stories and poetry. There are silent features of surrealism in the poetry of Malik Nadeem, Hassan Dars, Chander Keswani and so on. Surrealism is little bit a new imaginary world, which is less real but more true because truth has many shapes which can appear in different ways and images. Surrealism shows that our conscious is not able to understand every thing because it’s only as an iceberg actual conscious is ocean . Creation is more complex because it is more unconscious production than conscious. Here in this paper we can see the active features of surrealism by definition and history. I have researched out also Sindhi writer’s surrealistic approach in this paper.
