Every writer, belonging to Islamic culture, takes hymn writing as religious obligation. Folk literature which reflects the moral, cultural and social norms of the nations reflects the various tapestries of hymns to Allah. We find such traditions rampant in every genre such as Lori, tappa, boli, dhola, mahia etc. and in every local language such as Brahvi, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Balochi, Punjabi, Khawar, Torali. This article presents the tradition of hymn writing in the major languages of Pakistan. Inspite of having geographical and social differences, the obligation of hymn writing is a shared value. Such an idea, that dates back to antiquity provides a logical unity of the nation, even in contemporaneity
