Evolution of Topicwise Exegesis & its Impact on Understanding the Quran

The Qur’ān is the word of Allah, a complete treasure of various sciences. Scholars have endeavoured for its interpretation, since the age of its descending. Several scholars have worked in this respect from various dimensions. Topic-wise interpretation is also a significant type among such kinds. This type of interpretation was begun from the early age of Quranic interpretation, however, this specific term was used in the later periods. If we explore the topic in detail, we find various types of topic wise Interpretation which have a great impact on the understanding of the Qur’ān. This research paper elaborates the definitions, components and multiple types of topic wise interpretation. Besides, discussing the distinct aspects of each type, the article provides substantial information about the significance and impacts of topic wise interpretation on the understanding of the Qur’ān. With the comparative approach of research, the researcher presented an honest comparison between the topic wise interpretations of the earlier scholars and the modern trends. Although there are several objectives of this style of interpretation, however, its primary aim is to facilitate the interpretation and comprehension of the Qur’ān. Scholars adopted different approaches to facilitate comprehension of the Qur’ān. Some have interpreted the Qur’ān by compiling verses on different topics and some have interpreted one topic that is referred in various places in the Qur’ān. Some scholars have followed another approach in interpreting different topics of the Qur’ān. Such research on Quranic studies will expand the exposure of the young researchers and it will also open up novel avenues of interpretation for the researchers.
