The All-India Muslim League was the sole representative and political organisation of the Muslims of India. It was established in December 1906 at Dhaka. The aims and objectives of the League were to foster feelings of loyalty to the British Government among the Indian Muslims, to look after their political rights and to bring about better understanding between the Muslims and other communities. Like other political parties the League too was an organisation which was thoroughly based on constitution, rules and regulations. During its inaugural session, the Muslim leaders not only resolved to found the League but also decided to prepare certain principles, rules and regulations under which the organisation could be properly managed. These rules and regulations are called the Constituion of the All-India Muslim League. This constituion was approved unanimously in 1907 Karachi Session of the League and modified and corrected in March 1908. It was not a complete document and had several drawbacks. Therefore it was embellished with many amendments in the form of correction, addition and cancellation. This study mainly focuses on the initial constitution of the All-India Muslim League adopted in 1907 with a comprehensive sketch of major amendments made in it in 1913, 1919, 1931, 1937,1941 and 1943, in addition to some minor ones that were made on other occasions. In order to evaluate all the amendments in an explicit and exquisite manner, the paper has been invigorated with both primary and secondary sources.
