Hukka is considered to be introduced in the subcontinent with the introduction of tobacco which has traveled from central and south America to all over the world. Earliest records indicate that hukka was introduced in the period of Akber in the second half of sixteen century.The court physician of Akber, Abu Feth sheikh is considered to be the person who introduced hukka in subcontinent.Hukka is considered to the part of one of the oldest and deep rooted tradition that flourished in Gujrat (Pakistan).Accordingly hukka making is also a craft that hold its roots in the ancient history of Gujrat.It has become so famous in the routine life of the people of the area that without hukka social gatherings were considered incomplete.The same tradition continued throughout the subcontinent right from the ancient time.With the passage of time,people started to decorate their hukkas in accordance with their taste and love for hukka smoking.Hukka is also indulged in the Punjabi literature.There are so many examples appeared in the Punjabi literature which are discussed in this article in hand.
