Study of human history clearly indicates that marriage is the acceptance of a man and woman on solid principles to become life partners. It is not just for the sexual satisfaction rather it is a consistent relationship
between a man and a woman sharing mutual responsibilities for the perpetuation of human race. Male and female reproductive systems, in a way, have a role in the homeostasis by providing means
of transferring genome from the aging ones to the new generation. Our creator has made the bodies of man and woman in such a way that their sexual union not only gives emotional and physical satisfaction but
also a source for the off springs. Marriage is a deeply rooted natural need of man and woman governed by unchangeable natural laws and homosexuality is an unnatural way of sexual satisfaction. Homosexuality was prevalent during the era of Prophet Lut (Peace be upon him). The piece of earth where they were punished lies between Jordan and Palestine. The Holy Qur’an has labeled homosexuality as an unnatural act and has strongly condemned it. Nations widely involved in this act
were punished. No religion in the world favours the same-sex marriage.
A perspective by Gonzales and later an editorial by Campion et al, both in the world’s leading medical journal, The New England Journal of Medicine, depicted a one-sided picture to make the case in favor
of same-sex marriages. Same-sex marriage is not marriage in the true sense rather it is an unnatural way of getting momentary sexual satisfaction. It is a threat for human race and also violates the natural
human rights. Gays and lesbians are not able to share mutual responsibilities for long period. The objective of the same-sex marriage is just personal gratification of two persons whose union is sterile by
nature. Same-sex marriage is not only the violation of natural laws as it an obstacle for the propagation of human race but it is also the cause of many health hazards like sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, gastrointestinal infections, anal, breast and ovarian cancers, smoking, asthma, obesity, stress and even early death.
We suggest that the law makers, judiciary and health professionals of USA should revisit the case of same-sex marriage before its adverse medical, psychological, and social effects become a problem for the community. Here I quote from a letter by Abraham Lincoln, “The purposes of the Almighty are perfect, and must prevail, though we erring mortals may fail to accurately perceive them in advance.”
The researchers, writers and thinkers are invited to realize the possible consequences of legalizing the same-sex marriage and to revisit and resolve this issue on scientific bases.
