For a police organization that meets the needs of its members and the people it intends to serve requires it to be consistent and in consonance with the notion of good governance. Most of the rules and regulations and practices though have continued over the years as a colonial legacy but good governance practices need to be made an integral part of the system. This paper starts out with an introduction to the concept of governance and its indicators that are applicable to police administration. It further analyses the level of adherence to good governance in current police administration so that loopholes in it can be identified.
