Krishan Chandra is one of the stalwarts of progressive literary
movement. He portrayed plight of subcontinent woman and her torments
and issues. The woman belonging to lower strata or middle class are
depicted in possitive manner, whereas those belonging to upper class are
frequently portrayed with negative overtones. Krishan Chandra's woman
despite possessing physical charm and inner beauty,as well as strong
character, are often treated roughly by the society. She is often traded as a
cheap commodity in this callous world of Chandra.
