eminine study of Nazar Sajjad Haider's Novels
Abstract
In Urdu, early period of feminism was about reformism in which men also participated along with the women. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Allama Rashid Al-Khairi and Deputy Nazir Ahmed made women’s issues the subject of their writings. Later, the modern educated generation of Ali Garh University strengthened and reinforced this movement. The first loud and strong voice for women rights of Rasheed Jahan emerged from the platform of Progressive Movement. Women from subcontinent also worked hard on raising awareness in all the women for their rights and problems. The writings of Muhamadi Begum, Mughri, Hamayun, Akbari Begum, Anjuman Aara, and Nazar Sajjad Haider are some notable mentions who worked on this cause. Nazar Sajjad is one of the first women storytelling writers of Urdu language. She penned down several fictions, essays, and novels for women reforms. Her writings created a new thought and new sense of awareness among women, but her feminist thinking was slightly different from western feminism, she adapted to the social needs of Indian society and took a new form.
