A Comparative Review/analysis of Concept of Inheritance in the Light of Qur’an and Old Testament
Abstract
Judaism is a Semitic religion the followers of which claim that its teachings are
in line to the nature. Islam also is a Semitic religion the followers of which
proclaim the same1
. In both these religions, injunctions regarding the transfer
of the estate of deceased can be found which are referred to as “LAWS OF
INHERITANCE”. This article attempts to analyses the teachings regarding
inheritance in both religions. It was also tried to explore the injunctions about
transfer of deceased’s estate, who among the kindred of deceased are rightful
to his estate and who are not. Besides, it was also tried to prove that Islamic
teachings about inheritance are distinctly superior to teachings found in
Judaism and accordingly these teachings are accordance with the nature.
