Abstract
The importance of the letters and political contracts of the age of the Prophet and the righteous caliphs is evident for everyone in the academic world. When the Prophet laid down the foundations of the Islamic government in Medina, he established diplomatic relations with foreign countries, and wrote letters to different rulers to spread the Islamic call. Researchers have gathered these letters in their books, and have written many books on this issue. Dr. Hamidullah Khan has collected such letters in his book Majma’ al-Wathai’q al-Siyasiyah fi al-Ahd al-Nabawi wa al-Khilafat al-Rashida. This article presents a brief overview of the books that were written during the period of the companions of the Prophets, along with a detailed introduction and a critical review of Dr. Hamidullah’s book.
