Abstract
This study tackles the disposition of electronic mail (email) records in public departments in Zimbabwe. The
study established that there were no clearly laidout
guidelines on e-mail records management in Zimbabwe
and this has resulted in public officers using their own
discretion in disposing such records. This study used a
survey research design and collected data using
questionnaires and observation. Twenty-two public records
officers were selected for the study using simple random
sampling. The study recommends e-mail records
management skills development and the crafting and
adoption of an e-mail legislative, policy and procedural
framework by the National Archives of Zimbabwe for use
by public departments.
