Expression Of Changing Cultural Values In The Fiction of Dr. Rashid Amjid

Abstract
Dr Rasheed Amjad holds a distinguished place in modern short story writers. After going through his short stories, we realize that he is vigilant writer who feels the cultural changes taking place in the society and expresses them in his short stories. The modern man has forgotten his bright past by being victim of selfishness, and is busy in exploiting the fellow human beings. This is the reason that Man has no trust now in fellow human beings. This change in values has been expressed by Dr. Rasheed Amjad in his short stories in particular. He showed in his short stories that we human beings are losing touch with nature. The residential areas are being built after cutting down trees and beauty of nature is being destroyed. Our language, food, dress and things of daily use are also undergoing change. The modern man is dependent on machines and losing touch with fellow human beings. As the time is passing, the respect for elders is also vanishing. That is why that there is a gulf and generation gap between parents and children too. After reading Rasheed Amjad's short stories we realize that after forgetting our bright cultural values we are on the last ladder of downfall path and we are totally oblivious to this. Seeing his work in terms of art, he highlights the cultural values in a very unique and artist way. The changes that have been given rise to, with changing cultural values; have also been highlighted very effectively whether they are positive or negative. Like an expert pulse feeler he is aware of every vein of society and also expresses his grief on social decline. He also corrosively criticizes the society, but at the same time he anxiously desires the reformation in this declining social order.
