Abstract
Amīr Mīnāi (1829-1900) was a man of multidimensional talents and an important name in the tradition of Urdu poetry. He stands out among the poets of the Lukhnavī School for his spontaneous and languid expression as well as his creative use of conventional themes. He was also deeply interested in astrology, numerology, prosody, music and Islamic jurisprudence. He had mastered Arabic, Persian and Hindi and had authored several books in these languages.
