Abstract
This article presents a brief review of the last one hundred years of the Urdu short story. Tracing the evolving trends during this period, the writer focuses on the various aspects of the contemporary Urdu short story and specifically discusses the contributions of Intezār Husain, Qurat-al Ain Haider, Abdullāh Husain, Enver Sajjād, Khalida Husain, Asad Muhammad Khān, Hasan Manzar, Naiyer Masūd, Iqbal Majīd and Zakia Mashhadī.
