Abstract
Poetry depicts human emotions, sensibilities, as well as the collective experiences of human beings. The poet reaches a point where he enters the circle of existentialism, often experiencing loneliness, despair, hollowness and alienation. In this article the author has traced the basic characteristics of 21st century Urdu poetry. He argues that in a world driven by politics and political decisions, poets too must uphold their political commitments.
