Some Epistolary Novels in Urdu
Abstract
Creative literature written in the technique of letters is called epistolary. The first
attempt in this regard is the novel Cárcel de Amor (1492) by the Spanish writer Diego
de San Pedro. While James Howell's novel Familiar Letters is predominant in
English, this technique gained popularity following the publication of Samuel
Richardson's novel Pamela (1740). The first Urdu novel, Joya Haq published in 1917,
1919, 1921. After him, Qazi Abdul Ghaffar, Majnoon Gorakhpuri, M. Aslam and
Mustansir Hussain Tarar have used this technique in some of their novels. This article
