Spinning - A labour of love
Abstract
Millions of years ago, people used to do all kinds of works
by their own hands. When we go through history, we find that
machines are quite recent invention. People used to make fiber/
thread and then clothes by their hands to cover their bodies. This
art is known as “Spinning”. Spinning is a labour of love. Therefore our great poets and pious saints have always appreciated
this effort of human beings and conveyed message of hard work
through it. Poets of the sub-continent have also expressed the philosophy of mysticism by spinning wheel.
Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai gave the message of hard work
and avoidance of laziness in his chapter on Spinner or “Sur Kapaeti”, which is the focus of his research paper.
