Abstract
In Pakistan, symbolism emerged in 1958 during the Marshal law Period. In the first decade of 1970, it introduced new topics in short stories. The writers highlighted the political oppression and pressure of dictatorship through symbolism. In Saraiki literature, symbolic short stories contain the different topics such as oppression, deprivation, injustice, revolt against feudalism extortion etc. In number of short stories the colour of abstraction is quite visible rather than symbolism. The symbols which have been elaborated in Saraiki short stories purely belong to Saraiki culture and landscape.
