(A study of Words of Indus Script)
Abstract
The major cities of the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), also
known as Bronze Age Civilization, Harappa and Mohen jo Daro,
dating to around 3300 B.C., represent some of the largest human
habitations of the ancient world. The culture prevailing in these
ancient cities was unique and distinct, and the cities were highly
developed.
Furthermore, thousands of inscribed seals have also been
found at these sites. Deciphering the seals, archeologists mostly
hint that these could be read and concluded that the Indus script is
a complete writing system rather than corpus of mere signs and
symbols.
This paper maintains that the Indus Script is not merely a
collection of signs, but a full-fledged writing system. Similarly,
many of the words have been read and compared with the Roman
English and the Birahimi Script.
