Abstract
The study was primarily concerned with the development of norms of adapted VCI subtests (Ambreen & Kamal, 2011) of WISC-IV UK (Wechsler, 2003) for Pakistani children. Normative sample comprised of 801 students including both boys and girls. Sample was further divided into four age groups of 10-11 years, 12-13 years, 14-15 years, and 16-17 years with almost equal number of students in each age group. Three types of norms including: age based standard scores (scaled scores and VCI equivalents), percentile, and test-age equivalent norms were developed for the adapted subtests. All newly developed norms proved quite appropriate as means and standard deviations for the scaled score of the subtests, and for VCI equivalents closely approximated the presumed means and standard deviations for scaled scores (M = 10, SD = 3) and VCI equivalents (M = 100, SD = 15). The implication of newly developed norms was assessed through comparing the scaled scores and VCI equivalents of 100 children when calculated both from new norms and UK norms. Mean differences showed an increase of 0.38 to 4 points in scaled scores and 13 points in VCI equivalents when computed and analyzed with Pakistani norms as compared with the UK norms.
