Abstract
The present paper examines Human Rights in the light of western and Islamic
thought. Western concepts; particularly the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
is analyzed in comparison with Islamic perspective. It is done by examining the
historical documents of west and religious scriptures of Islam. The aim of the paper is
to highlight the relevance and importance of human rights in the contemporary global
society.
