Abstract
Y OF POETRY OF SAYED MISIRI SHAH Abstract Sindhi Classical poetry started from the Qazi Qadan, who is recognized as the first ever Sindhi poet. Many classical poets came after Qazi Qadan, including Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Sachal Sarmast, Saami among others. Sayed Misiri Shah is also one of these classical poets of Sindhi language. He was born in 1828 and died in 1906 at Nasarpur District, Tando Allahyar. He belongs to the British era on Sindh, i.e. from 1843 to 1947. Waee, Kafi and Bait are the basic genres of Sindhi classical poetry. Sayed Misiri Shah is famous for his Kafi and experts refer to him as the king of Kafi. Most of the poetry of Sayed Misiri Shah is in Sindhi language, but he has also written in Urdu, Hindi, Siraiki and Persian. In this article, the Sindhi poetry of Sayed Misiri Shah will be focussed.
