Abstract
N SHORT STORIES OF SUMERA ZAREEN Abstract The original name of Sumera Zareen is “Sakeena Awan”, she was born in Shikarpur Sindh on 11th February 1944 AD. The number of stories, she has written is about one hundred (But in her three published books the number of stories is thirty six, besides she has got published stories in different magazines). She has written some critical essays and articles on Sindhi story: “Azaadi khan poe sindhi kahaani Jo Jaaizo” and a book “Mehran joon Chholiyoon”. She has started writing because of personal yearning and nurture when she was of the age of twelve years, Her father Muhammed Azam usually brought Sindhi magazines and news papers in his home. Hence she developed liking for literature in early age. On August 13 in 1977 at the young age of 33 years she passed away. Her stories published in consecutively young age, particularly in Monthly magazines “Naeen Zindagi”, “Takaza”, Rooh Rehan”, “Suhni”, “Naon Niyapo”, “Marvi” and in other magazines . Some of her stories were translated in different languages and others were included in higher classes syllabus, her first fictional collection was “Geet Ujayal Moran ja” (songs of thirst peacock) was included in C.S.S syllabus. This book was published in 1980 and has been publishing after wards. Besides these fictional collection “Aaun Uhaai Marvi” (I am the very same Marvi), 1981 and “Roshan Chanwiro” (enlighten shadow) 1989 were published. Sumera Zaren has multi dimensional personality. At a time she is realistic, Romantic, Philologist, Philosopher, Psychologist, Historian, enlighten and naturalist story writer and critic. I would like to do psycho analysis of characters of few stories written by Sumera Zareen and will try to prove that Sumera Zreen was well aware about the nature and psyche characters she used in her stories.
