1947. In the four chapters, Abdullah Hussain has written an account of
the British India and the partition of India, and in conclusion he has
depicted the effects of these of these political changes on the different
classes of people and their participation or aloofness in these
circumstances. Through Naeem's character, A. Hussain has represented
those characters who have struggled hard for the safeguard and
solidarity of the country at the risk of their own lives. But even then, they
have been unsuccessful.

rewarded with all the luxuries for being faithful to the British. In spite of
having achieved independence, the class system and injustices could not
be overcome. Hence forth the country was changed but the system could
not be changed. A. Hussain has conveyed this very message that people
who put forth effort and end angered their lives were not the ones who
received the benefits, they were others. These people were victimised
and crushed and never achieved their goals and infect they are the
disappointed and thwarted people the "Udas Naslein" of the society.
