Abstract
Pulmonary thromboembolism is a fatal complication in patients undergoing lower extremity orthopedic surgery. However, pulmonary thromboembolism is difficult to make a diagnosis during general anesthesia because clinical manifestations of pulmonary thromboembolism are nonspecific. We experienced a case of pulmonary thromboembolism which occurred in a 65-year-old woman with femur fracture after position change following induction of general anesthesia. Transthoracic echocardiography showed a mobile thrombi in the right atrium. More attention should be paid to pulmonary thromboembolism prophylaxis in high risk patients.
