Abstract
Objective: To evaluate effect of aerobic exercise in lowering the level of LDL cholesterol. Methodology: This randomized controlled trial consisted of two groups, experimental group (n=20) and control group (n=20). The participants (25-45 years) had high LDL and total cholesterol. Experimental group was treated with standard aerobic training program for f our month. Serum LDL levels were measured before and after the treatment. The t-test was used to determine difference between two groups. Results: Baseline LDL level of experimental group and control group was 141±24 and 152±36, respectively. Post study, LDL levels were 125±23 (88-170) and 153±36 (102-230) in experimental and control groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Aerobic exercise resulted in a significant reduction of LDL cholesterol level.
