Abstract
Maulana Maududi is one of the most learned scholars of Twentieth
century. His thought impressed not only Muslims but also non Muslims and developed understanding about Islam. The
personality of Maulana was multy dimentional. His educational
and social work has been examined by many scholars from all
aspects. The work on historical background of the family of
Maulana scattered in various history books. His ancestors laid
foundation of Chishti School of Thought in India. Its purpose was
reformation of all Indians, whether Muslims or non-Muslims. The
following article reviews the work, thought and training of the
saints and elders of chishti mystic order for promotion of Islam in
India.
