سنڌ جي ريگستاني عورتن جا لوڪ گيت – هڪ اڀياس
Abstract
Folk literature mirrors the socio-cultural milieu of the society and links us to our past. In Sindh, folk literature is intertwined with the history and lifestyle of people of Thar (a desert region in the South), especially for young men, who often have to leave their villages (and travel to the cities) in search of better livelihoods. The folk songs are thus a conduit for the Bedouin women, who are left behind, to express their emotions and reminisce about their loved ones. These songs also often provide unique portrayal of the Thari landscape, culture and customs. This article aims to analyse these folk songs and their expressive power in explaining the feelings, passions and adversities of Thari women .
