Mercy and its Implications in the Prophetic Hadith

Abstract
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent as a mercy to this universe. Almighty Allah says in the Qur’ān, “We sent you not, but mercy to the worlds”. The mercy of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is manifested in his sayings and actions. The better we understand the concept of mercy, compassion and kindness, better we will revere the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This research is a study of sensitizing the areas of harmony and similarity between the sayings and actions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) through a contextual semantic. The article presents how the term mercy, compassion and kindness (Al Rahmah, Arafah, Ashafqah) are used in various contexts. Along with definition and meanings, the article discusses the implementation and application of the terms and its usage. Besides, description, the research clarifies many intermingling concepts of affectionate terminologies for students and teachers of Islamic studies.
