Abstract
At the start of British Rule in the Sub-continent, there arose a trend in Urdu language to oppose the new masters and to challenge the introduction of western culture and norms. The weekly Oudh Punch was the vanguard of this approach. It provided with a platform to such poets and writers, both Muslims and non Muslims, to warn the danger of alien culture through their renditions. Though seemingly they are satirical but in deep they wanted reformation. This article is a study of such Urdu poetry with regard to role of Outh Punch.
