Abstract
Poets often use some special words to denote
historical facts or personalities in their verse. Such
special word is termed as Talmeeh/Allusion. It has
great value owing to word economy of the poetry. It is
therefore commonly used in poetry of every language.
Urdu poets too have been and still employing this term
in their poetic expression. This article focuses
tradition and importance of Allusion in Urdu poetry
besides incorporating its specimens from great poets
of Urdu language.
