Abstract
This young man of 26 years age, a worker at a local car wash station was brought to the clinic with accidental
face exposure to high-pressure water jet at a local car wash station. He was having agonizing pain in both eyes
along with severe photophobia and loss of vision. On examination his face and both eyes were injured with left
eye taking the main brunt. He was having bilateral redness, periocular oedema, bruises and ecchymoses. Blood
stained discharge was coming from both the eyes due to chemosis and conjunctival lacerations. There were
multiple corneal abrasions with corneal oedema. His visual acuity was just finger counting in both eyes. After
dressing in eye OT, he was sent home on local and systematic antibiotics, anti inflammatory agent and analgesics.
He showed a normal recovery over a couple of weeks.
Public health physicians and decision makers need to ensure proper health education for managers and workers
regarding safety at car wash stations and warning sign boards to prevent such injuries.
