Abstract
Religious tolerance has been of great significance in the primitive Indian sub-continent. The Muslim Rulers of the sub-continent laid down the foundation of the great humanitarian values of mutual religious tolerance among the followers of different religions. They not only respected the religious feelings, practices and values of the other religious followers but also ensured the protection and continuity of their religious rites, places and customs. There was complete religious harmony among different religions and their followers but a shameful period of the decline of the values of religious forbearance started with the arrival of the British in the sub-continent. The British Colonial Rulers gave air to the Muslim-Christian religious conflict to strengthen their political rule in India. They printed, published, promoted and propagated controversial religious literature against Islam and the Muslims with the help of Christian priests. The autobiographies of the newly converted Christians are an important part of this religious literature which is comprised of priceless information related to religious beliefs, rites, practices, morals, economy, society, politics and other walks of life. The religious studies and analysis can be made impartial and unprejudiced with the help of this valuable treasure house of religious literature. This is the worthy information which can be extremely beneficial to assess the positives and negatives of different religions. Dr. Ibrahim Daishmukh’s autobiography ”Justajoo-e-Haq” has a unique significance in this regard. This research article is presented to have an impartial study of the information compiled in this book.
