Abstract
This note presents a preliminary study on the terracotta figurines
collected at the urban site of Barikot/Bīr-koṭ-ghwaṇḍai. The site, lying
in the middle stretch of the Swat Valley, Northwestern Pakistan, has
been excavating by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Pakistan
(ISMEO) since the 1970s. The abundance and reliable scientific frame
of the finds make the study one of a kind in the archaeology of South
Asia, as it provides a valuable opportunity to create a typechronological based catalogue
