Abstract
The study conducted during the two consecutive seasons from 1995 to 1996 showed that a fertilizer dose of 130-67-67 kg ha' appeared sufficient to get higher grain yield of Basmati-;385. A schedule of nitrogen application as 1/3 at transplal1ting, 1/3 at tillering and the remaining 1/3 a,t panicle initiation was considered the best. Among all the NPKcombinations, a N dose of 130 kg ha' applied in three splits, gave the maximum paddy yield of 4.72 and 4~j4t ha' during 1995 and 1996 respectively, while NPK at the rate of 60-0-0 kg ha", all applied at transpla,n-til"igproduced the minimum yield of 3.58 and 2.78 t ha' respectively. Correlation between grain yield ahd yield components was highly significant and positive.
