Abstract
Betamethasone-17-valerate (0.1%) ointment and c1obetasol-17-propionate (0.05%) ointment were applied morning and evening to the dorsal shaved skin of guinea pigs for four weeks. Skin samples were excised every week from the treated area. After staining, histometrical study was carried out with the ocular micrometer. Mean reduction in epidermal thickness was moderately significant after 3rd week and highly significant after 4th week with c1obetasol-17-propionate (0.05%) ointment topical application. However, with betamethasone-17-valerate (0.1%) ointment topical application, it was only moderately significant even after 4th week.
