Abstract
Five clite inbred lines of maize werc crosscd in all possible combinations in or-
der to find the correlation and path cocfficicnt of grain yicld with plant height, num-
ber of cars per plant, number of kerncl rows per car, number of kernels per row,
100-grain weight, car Icngth and car girth. Number of cars per plant and car girth
showed highly significant phenotypic and genotypic corrclations with grain yteld.
Path coctfficicnt analysis showed thal car length had maximum dircet positive effect
on grain yield whereas the effects of plant height and number of cars per plant ap-
pearcd to be relatively small.
