Abstract
Ten specimens each of Calla calla (Sam_), Labeo rokfict (Ram,), and Cirri/Ana mrigalo (llama) were colleeted from different waters of Lahore, The young fishes were 20-25 c121 long, Their gut con-tents were Studied for the nLacro and micro contents to determine the nature of feed coneume4 by them. INTRODUCTION World fish production has exhibited a gradual increase over the yearn, At the same time, there has been a steady rise in yieldH from fish resources developed by means of Aquaculture, namely, culture and propagation, Fish culture ie a method of fostering the growth of fishery resources is an enclosed water area. Propagation is a method of maintaining and increasing yield by controlling the living eonditiona and environment of natural habitats of fishery resources in water, in the light of global outlook for future food production, the culture and propagation of t hery resources ie attracting great attention, as a eJource of supply of animal protein from watek.. The nature of food of a. living organism has a relative beating to the environmental 'factors under which. it survives. Therefore, it is necessary to have full knowledge of the apeeificatiora, of feed both qualitatively and quanti-tatively for better production 4)! 6eh. There are two ways to feed .6.sh : (a) direct feeding and (b) indirect feeding., In case of direct feeding, the feed material ie 111 uppliect to the fish in a form which becomes easily available. For indirect feeding, the water is manured by organic and inorganic fertilizers which result in the production of plankton and aquatic flora which are eaten by fish {Hug, 1057). Although many workers have worked on fish feed and feeding behaviour, yet it needs more attention for further investigation. In this study„ macro and infer° contents of gut of CALF ealies liapta.) and Cirrilitga nirigaia (Ham.) were expiored to deter.. mine the nature of feed eUnfill riled by them. +College of Veterinary Sziencee„.
