Abstract
It is not possible to deny the value, need and importance
of human rights issue in present time. Human Rights is a worldly
discussed topic now a days. There is no doubt in the importance
of Human Rights according to Islam and the West, but the way of
thinking is primarily different. Islam sees Human Rights in
perspective of Men and God and approach of west in this regard
is secular and they adopt Human Rights as a state and its citizen.
In Islam, Rights are determined and set by Allah and his
Messenger and there is no change possible whatsoever. In the
west, leaders and legislative bodies determine the rights and
there is a possibility in change of rights at any time. In view of this
fundamental difference, today, some clauses of International
Human Rights Charter are in contrary with Islamic teachings. For
example, Islamic Punishments, west considers that Islamic
punishments as against Human Rights. Islam also considers
some clauses of International charter as unIslamic. Therefore the
solidarity between the two in some clauses becomes difficult. The
comparison between both concepts has been presented in this
article and a critical review of the charter of United Nations
Human Rights has also been discussed
