Abstract
This article presents an impressionistic critique of Dr.Nasir Abbas Nayyar's
Hydal Berg's dairy.German culture and the author's views have been critically
analysed within the conceptual framework of cultural studies. Delving deep into
the Ger man cul tural milieu, the author's adumber ation o f the
significant,fascinating and astonishing information has been critically
evaluated.The author's represantation of the facts about German cultural life has
been spotlighted from cultural perspectives and an intellectual effort has been
made to address the following questions:On what basis does personal writing
become social writing? What does Dr.Nasir Abbas Nayyarthink of Germany and
the Gerrmans ?How did the diary become a travellogue?What sort of questions
did he ask the German and why? What stylistic features did he use in writing
