Abstract
This article presents introduction on the critical literature on "URDU
DASTAN". In this article, the researcher tried to study different books
regarding the primary experience of dastan critics.Aleem-u-din Ahmed's
"Urdu Zubanaur Fan-e-dastan goi" is an authentic book on the art of
dastan. This book explains the elements and essentials of this particular
art.Syed Waqar Azeem's "HamariDastanein" offers credible research
material on various collections of narrative dastan. The tradition of
criticizing dastans is not old. It started in 5th decade of 20th century. Now
classical Urdu literature has a rich tradition of dastan critics. This article
presents an introduction to prominent critical books on Urdu dastan.
