Appreciation of poetesses in Tazkara Masarat Afza

Abstract
"Tazkra (Autobiographical Accounts, Memoir) is such a literary form which presents the autobiography of the poets as well as their poetry. It is the progressive form of Diary. The art of Tazkra writing in Urdu was borrowed from Persian. Basically the art of Tazkra writing was started in the reign of Mir Taqi Mir and Khawaja Mir Dard. To analyse the educational, literary, ethical and civilized atmosphere of any society in a better way, it is necessary to assess the conditions and thought patterns of half of its population (females). Historians and Tazkra writers have written the autobiography and poetry of the male poets diligently but the female poetesses are almsot neglected or given partially importance. Some Tazkra writers have given special coverage to these poetesses. Abu-al-Hassan Ameer-ud-Din Ahmad Amrullah Abadi is such a writer who wrote "Tazkara Musarrat Afza" in which he assessed some poetesses.”
