Artistic requirements of humor and satire: A special study of Mushtaq Yousfi
Abstract
"Humour and satire is a prominent genre of literature. Any
unusual, ridiculous or shameful act or situation in society lead to
the production of humorous and satiric literature. A humorous or
satiric writing demand a number of skills from its writer i.e
anagram, Parody, comparison, paradox, well selected words and
phrases, creating humorous characters, well equipped
knowledge of literature and the society. Mushtaq Ahmad Yousfi is
a well-known satiric and humour writer. Ibne Insha said about
Yousfi If ever we could give a name to the literary humour of our
time, then the only name that comes to mind is that of Yousfi,
while Dr. Zaheer Fatehpuri told that We are living in the 'Yousufi
era' of Urdu literary humour. Yousfi is well aware of skills
requisites required for humorous or satiric writings and he use
them well. This article is a study of these skills used by yousfi in
his literary humour."
